A new bridge has finally opened after delays in Mississauga.
The Ogden pedestrian bridge opened Monday afternoon, according to Ward 1 Councillor Stephen Dasko. The bridge spans the QEW, from Ogden Avenue to Insley Road.
“I am pleased to announce that the Ogden Pedestrian Bridge is now open to the public as of late this afternoon!” Dasko announced on X.
The bridge was opened with some temporary arrangements in place, Dasko added.
“The remaining permanent work is scheduled to be completed before spring while the bridge remains open,” he said.
Pedestrians and cyclists can now use the bridge.
The old bridge was removed in March 2023 as part of the Ministry of Transportation QEW/Dixie Interchange project.
The bridge was originally slated to be replaced in the summer of 2023. That date was pushed to the summer of 2024.
Residents have been waiting for the opening.
“What a lovely and long awaited Xmas present,” one person wrote on X.
The QEW/Dixie Interchange project started in May 2022, and is expected to wrap up in July 2026.
