There’s a new season of exhibitions and events at the Peel Art Gallery Museum and Archives (PAMA) in downtown Brampton, exploring music, war, gender representation and even the good ol’ hockey game.
Remembrance Day exhibitions
PAMA is commemorating Remembrance Day with an exhibition called Local Service and Sacrifice running from Nov. 5 to the 11th at Bramalea City Centre.
The show will allow guests to learn the stories of local residents who served in both World Wars and some who are still serving in the military today. There are also samples of war posters from the PAMA collection on display.
You can also visit Erin Mills Town centre during November to see A War in the Sky, featuring photographs from Lorne Park resident Author Lukar taken during WWI flight school.
Then on Nov. 12, PAMA will host a “show and tell” of war-related archival materials and archival posters, film footage, rationing cards and more.
Facing Claude Cahun and Marcel Moore
A new photography exhibit opening later this month will showcase the work of artists Claude Cahun and Marcel Moore – two ground-breaking surrealist artists and genderqueer pioneers in the mid-to-late 20th century.
Partners in both art and in life, the duo’s photographs have made a significant impact in the art world since their rediscovery in the late 1980s.
The exhibition will feature a group of five emerging artists exploring the legacy of Cahun and Moore, working in media ranging from photography, sculpture, textile, film and installation.
The exhibit runs from Nov. 19 until April 9.
