New Openings: Sweet Philosophy
Published December 19, 2015 at 4:37 pm
Sweet Philosophy is a new patisserie which specializes in high end custom cakes and pastries made from scratch.
Patricia Phan, the self-taught pastry chef, owner, and local Sauga girl decided to turn her passion into reality and came to the realization once she found out she was pregnant with a baby girl that she couldn’t see herself as an accountant for the rest of her life – so she packed up and left.
Phan trained at Bonnie Gordon College of Confectionary Arts and creates truly stunning and beautiful edible art (check out her Instagram account for pastry porn) which can take at least eight hours of creative work to an upwards of thirty hours for one of Phan’s wedding cake designs. You will find her multi-tiered wedding cakes featured in both WedLuxe and Wedding Bells magazine.
The bright pink exterior stands out along the east side of Port Credit – a nice addition to the neighbourhood and yet another reason why Port Credit is shaping up to be the destination spot in the city.
The space has been transformed from an old frame shop to a beautiful patisserie in a pink and white colour scheme, chandeliers and sample custom designed cakes on display throughout the store.
Why Mississauga? “I love the community and everyone knows where Port credit”.
Unique for: Custom designed cakes including wedding and birthday cakes. You can also find French macarons, cupcakes, chocolates, and cake pops. The space only has six seats and is set up moreso for pickups and takes out, which is a shame because the space would make a great cafe.
Signature Pastry: Phan’s signature pastry is called cakelette and is comprised of a cake bottom topped with butter filling, fresh fruit, chocolate and a French macaron – a compilation of various pastries made into one beautiful piece.
What’s Up and Coming? Coffee, teas and summertime drinks.
Seats: 6
Patio: No
