$100K Mississauga lottery winner May 2024.

Michael Wheaton is going to buy himself a guitar — because he can do so comfortably.

And the Mississauga man will likely have a lot of money left over after winning $100,000 in the April 19 Lotto Max draw. His ticket matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in exact order to secure the big win.

Wheaton, who works as a labourer, buys Lotto Max and Lotto 6/49 tickets each week, and he always plays the Encore numbers, too.

This is his first big win.

“I checked my ticket on the OLG app and I saw all the digits. I couldn’t believe it. I had to put the phone down and gather my thoughts,” he shared while collecting his winnings at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.

An excited Wheaton couldn’t wait to share his good news with his family.

“I told them over a group text we have. They were more excited than me,” he laughed. “It was a nice moment of joy and a little surreal. I feel so grateful for this blessing.”

Wheaton said he plans to invest for his retirement as well as treat himself to a new guitar.

The winning ticket was purchased at Meadowvale Ticket Centre, on Meadowvale Town Centre Circle in Mississauga.
