Pearson Airport in Mississauga adds new flights to Chicago

Travellers flying out of Pearson Airport in Mississauga now have another option if they’re heading to the Big Apple.

Edmonton-based low-cost carrier Flair Airlines launched direct service from Pearson to JFK Airport in New York City on Thursday (April 7).

Officials with the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA), which runs Pearson, said a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the departure gate.

“…we share in (Flair’s) excitement for this expansion,” Pearson Airport tweeted.

Flair Airlines has other big plans coming up, too.

Starting April 14, the carrier will take passengers directly from Pearson Airport to Nashville, Tennessee, popularly known as Music City.

The carrier said earlier that as of April, it will also offer direct flights from Pearson to Denver and San Francisco. Nonstop flights to Victoria, B.C. are to follow in May.

Check the airline website or Pearson Airport for information related to specific flights.

After a dramatic reduction in air travel at Pearson and around the world for nearly two years as the COVID-19 pandemic slowed or halted operations, people are travelling by air once again as restrictions have been lifted.

At Pearson, travellers have started returning in large numbers and the Friday before March Break was the airport’s busiest day in two years.

Flair Airlines announced last October that it was bumping up its business at Pearson Airport, promising the future addition of nonstop flights to 19 destinations across North America.

The discount carrier said it was planning to add this spring two new aircraft out of Pearson, and two other aircraft, as it dramatically expands its services.

The four new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft will bring Flair’s fleet count to 16. The additions will allow the airline to expand its routes offered by about one-third.
