New bus route to major shopping mall in Mississauga and free rides on New Year’s Eve

A new bus route that’ll take riders to and from Dixie Outlet Mall in the city’s south end and free MiWay rides on New Year’s Eve are among a series of service changes planned this month by Mississauga’s transit provider.
MiWay officials said in a service update on Thursday the new Route 31 Ogden will replace the temporary Ogden Shuttle that had been in operation since September.
“This new route will service Dixie Outlet Mall along Dixie Road, Lakeshore Road and Ogden Avenue via Long Branch GO Station,” MiWay officials said, noting the new route will operate seven days a week.
As a result, Ogden Avenue service that used to be offered on Route 5 Dixie has now been permanently removed from that route. Earlier this year, an intersection reconfiguration in the area prompted the temporary removal — at that time — of service along Ogden Avenue.
MiWay also notes all of its buses will run on a holiday schedule from Dec. 23 until Jan. 5 “to ensure that service is aligned with customer demand.”
Included among those changes is the temporary shelving of the 300-series bus routes that serve the city’s high school students. They’ll stop running Dec. 23 through Jan. 3.
