A new bakery in Mississauga creates Middle Eastern treats with a twist.
Baba’s Kunafa opened at 247 Queen St. S. in Streetsville in November.
The space was previously occupied by a custom print shop, before that Angel Boutique and before that a hair salon.
Baba’s Kunafa serves the Middle Eastern desserts known as kunafa.
Kunafa is traditionally made with spun pastry that is soaked in a sweet, sugar-based syrup.
The dessert can be layered with cheese, or with other ingredients such as clotted cream, pistachio or nuts, depending on the region.
Baba’s offers pistachio, Nutella and lotus kunafas. They have an ice cream kunafa, and kunafa on a stick.
There are also rolls, a sandwich-style kunafa and baklava on the menu.
