New airline travel routes added to Pearson Airport in Mississauga, Ontario

As temperatures drop and the air turns brisk, you might find yourself dreaming of a getaway to sunnier destinations.

If you’re worried about flights booking up fast, there’s good news—more routes are being added to Pearson Airport in Mississauga to meet growing travel demand. Here’s a look at some of the new routes launching this fall and winter:


Porter Airlines to Thunder Bay

Porter Airlines is set to introduce a new route between Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Thunder Bay International Airport (YQT) using its Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. Flights will operate three times weekly, starting on Oct. 16.

According to flyporter.com, Porter has been serving the Thunder Bay community since 2009, currently offering up to five daily roundtrip flights from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport and twice daily flights to Ottawa using the 78-seat Dash 8-400 aircraft.

  • YYZ to YQT: 7:05 a.m. arrival at 9:00 a.m. (Wednesday, Friday, Sunday)

October 27, 2024 – Winter 2025 Season

  • YYZ to YQT: 7:20 a.m. arrival at 9:15 a.m. (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday)
  • YQT to YYZ: 10:10 a.m. arrival at 11:57 a.m. (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday)

The new service will utilize the 132-seat Embraer E195-E2, featuring no middle seats, complimentary beer and wine served in glassware, free premium snacks and fast Wi-Fi.

“This new Toronto-Pearson service will increase our passenger capacity in Thunder Bay by more than 10%, providing everyone with more options to fly with Porter,” said Kevin Jackson, president of Porter Airlines. “Thunder Bay has been very loyal to Porter, and we are committed to providing the community with a variety of service options at competitive fares.


Air Canada —Mumbai

Air Canada is enhancing its service to India with new routes for the upcoming winter schedule.

Beginning October 27, 2024, Air Canada will launch a non-stop route from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) to Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM).

Air Canada notes on its website that this is the only non-stop service to Mumbai available from Canada, operating four times a week through late March 2025.

Flight schedule:

  • AC46: Departs Toronto at 9 p.m., arrives in Mumbai at 9:45 p.m. the next day.
  • AC47: Departs Mumbai at 11:45 p.m., arrives in Toronto at 7:45 a.m. the next day.

The Toronto to Mumbai flight lasts approximately 15 hours and 15 minutes, while the return flight takes around 17 hours and 30 minutes.

Air Canada will operate a Boeing 777-200LR on this route, featuring a three-cabin configuration, including Air Canada Signature Class, premium economy, and economy.


Porter Airlines —Phoenix

Porter Airlines has launched its new service between Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX), which began on Oct. 3.

According to airwaysmag.com, this route marks an exciting addition to the airline’s growing network in the Western U.S., offering convenient access to one of North America’s top destinations for sun and outdoor adventures.

The southbound flight departs Toronto at 10:30 a.m., arriving in Phoenix at 12:01 p.m. The northbound flight leaves Phoenix at 1:05 p.m., landing back in Toronto at 8:21 p.m.

The airline operates the E195-E2 aircraft on this route, known for its fuel efficiency and reduced environmental impact, which helps to lower operational costs.
