Nearly 7,000 homes and businesses lose power in Mississauga

In the midst of another heat wave, nearly 7,000 homes and businesses lost power in Mississauga.
Alectra reported the outage just after 1 p.m. today (July 26) in the Churchill Meadows and Erin Mills area of Mississauga.
Approximately 6,946 homes and businesses were impacted by the outage, Alectra said in a tweet.
Crews were onsite and the estimated time for restoration is 3:30 pm.
This comes as Mississauga and much of Ontario is under a heat alert with temperatures expected to soar past 30 C today and 40 with the humidex by Friday.
Update: The cause of this outage was a pole fire which brought down a few lines, an Alectra spokesperson says.
