Abbey's Bakehouse in Square One in Mississauga

If you recently wandered past Reds in Square One in Mississauga, you might have noticed a new addition to the casual dining hotspot.

Abbey’s Bakehouse, a Muskoka-based concept known for serving baked goods from its picturesque 19th-century converted church on Lake Rousseau in Minett, Ont., now has an outpost in Mississauga’s best-known shopping centre.

The bakeshop, which boasts a separate entrance from Reds, offers a variety of tarts (butter, lemon and raspberry) and stuffed cookies (brownie, M&M, butter tart, Rice Krispie, salted caramel and more).

The menu is a bit smaller than the one offered by the Minett location, which features pies, homemade gelato and sorbetto and focaccia.

The Square One location also sells a variety of hot drinks, including drip coffee, Americanos, lattes, cappuccinos and tea.

Both Reds and Abbey’s Bakehouse are operated by SIR (Service Inspired Restaurants) Corp, which also owns Jack Astor’s Scaddabush, Duke’s Refresher + Bar and The Loose Moose and Antler Room.

The bakery, which opened just a few weeks ago, is located on the second level near Simons.
