Ahmed Ismail has pleaded guilty to the murder of 16-year-old Ezekiel Agyemang from Brampton.

A Toronto man has pleaded guilty to the murder of 16-year-old Ezekiel Agyemang from Brampton – the same man also found guilty in the shooting of a man outside a Vancouver pub in 2021.

Ahmed Ismail was initially charged with the first-degree murder and kidnapping of Agyemang, whose body was found in the area of Guelph Line and No. 10 Side Rd. in Milton on June 30, 2020.

Those charges were changed to second-degree murder, and Ismail entered a guilty plea in the Brampton teen’s death on Friday according to reports. Sentencing is set for December.

Agyemang was a Grade 10 student at St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School in Brampton who loved playing basketball and wanted to become an engineer, Halton Regional Police said.

Police said he was an innocent victim and was targeted due to a dispute between the accused and one of Agyemang’s friends.

Ismail and Liban Hassan were sentenced to 10 years in prison last year for the attempted of Mir Aali Hussain, who was shot and killed in a targeted attack in Vancouver. The court heard the victim was leaving a restaurant with his wife and three-year-old child and carrying his six-month-old baby in a car seat when the assassination happened.

The court heard the pair were contracted to travel to Vancouver and kill or kidnap Hussain for $150,000 in connection to a turf war between rival gangs involved in the drug trade.

Police said none of the children were injured in the shooting, and Hussain was later killed in what police called a separate incident.
