Murder suspects arrested nearly three years after Hamilton shooting

A suspect has been arrested in the fatal 2021 shooting of Sheydon Storer on Hamilton Mountain.

Storer, 24, was shot in his driveway near Mohawk Road and Upper Wentworth on Dec. 26, 2021. Hamilton Police and Paramedics responded to the shots fired call shortly after.

When they arrived they found Storer alive suffering a single gunshot wound. Paramedics rushed him to hospital where he was soon declared dead.

A few weeks later, Hamilton Police released security camera footage of a blue car leaving the scene. However, they provided no suspect descriptions.

Storer’s murder was the 19th in the city that year. Police believe it was a planned and targeted attack.

Hamilton Police said they’ve spent the last three years “actively investigating, following up on evidence and pursuing new leads.” They described the video as “a crucial piece of evidence.”

Investigators with the Homicide and Intelligence units joined forces into Project Ohio, specifically dedicated to finding Storer’s killers.

On Sept. 12, 2024, they announced charges agains three people;

  • Ahmed Issak Hussen, 23 of Hamilton, on first degree murder
  • Kamaldeep Dhaliwal, 22 of Hamilton, also on first degree murder, and
  • Tasnim Beauvais, 24 of Edmonton, Alberta, for accessory to murder and obstructing police

On the arrests, Storer’s family said, “Thank you to the homicide detectives for their diligence in Sheydon’s murder investigation.”

“We also want to thank the people who have come forward with any information, no matter how small, as we know these little things can make a world of difference,” they continued, “It’s been a long two years and nine months of not having answers but to get this confirmation has been a relief for our family and all those who loved Sheydon.”

“Once gain, our heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped to get these people arrested and charged.”
