charges laid killing of brampton man

A suspect has been charged with murder in the killing of a 52-year-old Brampton man, police say.

Ontario Provincial Police said that officers were called to a home on Deer Ridge Trail in Caledon, which is just north of Brampton, shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday where the victim was found injured.

He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police have identified him as Brampton resident Rabinder Malhi.

Caledon man Rajinder Kumar, 47, has since been charged with second-degree murder.

He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Orangeville on Nov. 18.

Sheetal Verma, 35, also from Caledon, was charged with obstruction of justice.

She is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 12.

INsauga.com asked the OPP several follow-up questions, including if police knew of a possible motive and whether or not the victim knew his alleged killer.

Const. Joe Brisebois said he was unable to provide more information.

“This update is to confirm that it is a homicide investigation, and we are identifying the victim and the two persons charged,” Brisebois said.

“It remains an ongoing investigation, and it is before the courts.”

A cause of death also hasn’t been released.

Anyone with information was asked to come forward.
