A suspect hunted by police since the shooting death of a Mississauga man earlier this year has been arrested in England and will be brought back to Toronto to face a first-degree murder charge.
Toronto Police homicide investigators who back in May issued a Canada-wide warrant for Adrian Gordon Jr., 24, of Toronto, said he was arrested Aug. 19 in Luton, England. He’s being held by authorities in the United Kingdom, police said in a news release on Monday, pending extradition to Canada.
Once back in Canada, Gordon Jr. will face a first-degree murder charge in connection with the slaying of Jesse Tubbs, 30, a Mississauga man who was found lying on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds behind a building near Isabella and Jarvis streets in downtown Toronto at about 12:20 a.m. on May 22.
Paramedics rushed Tubbs to hospital, where he died of his injuries a few days later.
Police said, at the time, the Mississauga man was found suffering from his wounds behind the building, located east of Yonge Street and south of Bloor Street. They also said earlier that officers had responded to “a call for an unknown trouble.”
Investigators haven’t said if the two men knew one another, nor have they identified a possible motive in the slaying.
The RCMP, Interpol and the United Kingdom National Crime Agency helped in the investigation, Toronto Police said.
