The weather outside is definitely frightful, but that probably won’t stop Mississauga residents from checking out the upcoming Santa Claus Parade.
The parade, presented by the Erin Mills Auto Centre and a number of other local organizations, will kick off at 12:00 pm on Sunday, Dec. 4 and wrap up around 2:30 pm.
The parade, which will run a total of 1.2 km, will take place in the Glen Erin Drive and Dundas St. W. area, and a number of roads will be temporarily closed to accommodate the event.
According to the event’s website, the parade route begins at the Dunwin Drive and Glen Erin Drive intersection. A number of roads will be closed for several hours, including:
- Dunwin Drive (Glen Erin Drive to the west limit of Dunwin Drive) from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
- Woodchester Drive from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
- Motorway Boulevard from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
- Glen Erin Drive (Dundas Street to Dunwin Drive) from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm (southbound traffic on Glen Erin Drive will be diverted eastbound along Dunwin Drive to Dundas Street).
As for what to expect at the parade, former NHL player Doug Gilmour will act as the event’s grand marshal. Attendees can also expect floats, musical entertainment and an appearance from Santa Claus himself.
Street parking is available on Dunwin Drive, east of Glen Erin Drive. The parade route is also accessible by public transit.
