Multiple schools went into lockdown and one person is in police custody after a weapon was reportedly seen in a Brampton school.
Peel Regional Police say at least three schools were put on lockdown orders around 9:40 a.m. on Monday (Oct. 23) after receiving a report of a weapon at a school in the area of Bramalea Road and Queen Street East in Brampton.
The call led police to place several schools in the area on lockdown as a precaution, but a police spokesperson was unable to confirm which schools and how many were under the order.
Police have confirmed that one person has been taken into custody but police were unable to confirm the age, gender or any additional details about the individual.
The lockdown was lifted shortly after 10 a.m. and police say students can expect to see officers at the scene while the investigation is underway.
