Multiple collisions in Oakville, traffic slowdowns in Mississauga

Multiple collisions on the QEW through Oakville today (Jan. 2) have led to traffic slowdowns through the area including Mississauga.

The OPP say they are responding to reports of several accidents on the highway, especially near Ford Drive and Highway 403 in the eastbound lanes near Mississauga.

“The roads are snow-covered in this area,” the OPP reports. “Slow down!”

Despite the collisions, there are no reports of lane closures and traffic is moving on the QEW.

So far there are no reports of major injuries.

The snow, which started early this morning, is expected to continue until this afternoon and accumulate on roads and highways.

Police departments across the GTA are warning people to avoid non-essential travel. If you must drive, make note of road conditions in advance and adjust the speed and handling of your vehicle to meet the weather conditions.
