Ontario Provincial Police said emergency crews responded to a collision at around 6:50 a.m. on Thompson Road East in Norfolk County involving an SUV and motorcycle.

“I am sad to say that the motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene,” an OPP spokesperson said.

The driver of the SUV was reported to have suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital.

The crash happened on Friday the 13th, with the traditional motorcycle rally taking place in Port Dover. It is not clear, however, if the motorcyclist who died was heading to the rally. The collision scene is approximately 20 minutes away from Port Dover.

The OPP spokesperson said that Thompson Road East is closed in the area of the crash and lots of officers are at the scene, but some motorists have been ignoring the closure.
