A motorcyclist is dead after a collision involving a transit bus in Brampton early Thursday evening (May 30).

The crash occurred just before 6 p.m. in the area of Hurontario Street and Petworth Drive.

Peel Regional Police say the man on the motorcycle was in his 20s.

“Unfortunately the man was announced deceased at the scene,” said Peel Constable Nikhil Chakravarthy.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene after the collision.

Peel police are still investigating the collision and said it remains to be seen if charges will be laid.

Riders heading out on the roads this summer are reminded to be as careful as they can.

“When it comes to motorcycles, you really got to ride safe, ride within the speed limit and be really aware of your surroundings,” said Chakravarthy. “It doesn’t have to be your mistake that results in a collision, it could be someone else’s.”
