Mother and child hit in crash leads to dangerous driving charge for Caledon man

Police have laid a dangerous operation charge against a young man from Caledon after a mother and young child were injured in a car crash.

The collision happened on Tuesday with the OPP saying officers were called to Kennedy Road and Dougall Avenue in the Southfields Village area of Caledon just before 7 p.m.

Police say a mother and her “young child” were hit by a vehicle and rushed to hospital with injuries that were considered non-life threatening.

Investigators haven’t said how old the mother and child are, or the types of injuries they sustained.

Police say the suspect, a 21-year-old man from Caledon, was arrested and hit with a dangerous operation charge in relation to the crash.

The OPP says Sehajpreet Singh, 21, of Caledon, has been charged with one count of dangerous operation. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on Nov. 21 to answer the charge.

Investigators are urging anyone who may have security or dash camera footage of the crash to contact police.
