The past week or so has been chaotic in Ottawa, with the resignation of Chrystia Freeland as finance minister intensifying calls for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to step down, including from those within his own party.

While Trudeau is said to be reflecting over the holidays, the prospect of a spring election is looking more and more likely, regardless of whether or not he decides to resign.

That’s particularly because NDP leader Jagmeet Singh has said his party would vote non-confidence in the governing Liberals during the next sitting of the House of Commons.

The Conservatives and Bloc Québécois have both been calling on New Democrats to vote non-confidence in the government but the NDP have supported the Liberals on three confidence votes since September.

After news broke of Freeland’s resignation last week, INsauga.com asked our readers which party they plan to vote for in the next federal election.

As of the time of writing this article, an overwhelming number have chosen the Conservative Party, at 70.34 per cent.

In second are the Liberals with 14.37 per cent, then the NDP at 7.19 per cent.

Following those three, 3.82 per cent chose “other,” 2.45 per cent chose the People’s Party and 1.83 per cent chose the Green Party.

In a separate poll, where we asked readers, “Do you think the Justin Trudeau Liberals could win the next election?,” 85.7 per cent said they don’t think the Trudeau Liberals could win; 14.3 per cent think they could.
