Most budget-friendly flights for Ontario travellers this winter

Those looking for a winter vacation on a budget may want to check out some of the cheapest flights from Ontario.

Winter is coming with the first snowfall in the GTA expected this week. Many Canadians look for a winter escape as the colder weather moves in.

A report finds 61 per cent of Canadians planning to travel for vacation or leisure in the latter half of 2024, according to travel search aggregator Skyscanner.

Skyscanner put together a list of the most affordable options for those dreaming of tropical vacations, vibrant cityscapes, or winter wonderlands.

“The holiday season is a prime time for travel, and our data shows that affordable options are available for Canadians looking to explore both domestic and international destinations,” said Skyscanner travel expert, Laura Lindsay. “By planning ahead and utilizing tools like Skyscanner’s price alerts, travellers can secure the best deals and make the most of their holiday adventures.”

Here are the cheapest flights out of Ontario:

• Calgary: Visit the gateway to the Rockies with flights from $290.
• New York: Experience the Big Apple’s holiday festivities with fares as low as $336.
• Vancouver: Explore the scenic West Coast with tickets starting at $351.
• Orlando: Enjoy family-friendly attractions with flights from $382.
• Fort Lauderdale: Relax on sandy beaches with fares beginning at $411.
• Cancun: Escape to tropical paradise with flights starting at $588.

Flight prices reflect average costs for economy class return bookings made over the last six months, for travel between Nov. 1 and Jan. 31, 2025, as of Nov. 6. Prices are accurate at the time of issue but may be subject to change, according to Skyscanner.
