Vaccine mandates that have been in place at Pearson Airport in Mississauga as well as on all trains and buses will be removed as of June 20.

The federal government says the COVID-19 vaccine mandates will end for all domestic travel on planes and trains for those who are departing from the airport to international destinations.

However, foreign nationals arriving from international destinations will still have to show proof that they have been vaccinated.

This past weekend the federal government took the first steps in eliminating some of the previous mandates when it was announced that fully vaccinated travelers passing through Pearson Airport will no longer be subject to random COVID testing.

The changes should come as welcome relief to both travelers and airport officials who say the tests and checks have led to long line-ups for passengers and even flight delays and cancellations.

Federal officials have insisted on the strict policies surrounding COVID-19 since the height of the pandemic, especially during the Omicron wave.
