Montreal man charged in sex trafficking investigation in Mississauga

A Montreal man faces sex trafficking charges in connection to a Mississauga investigation.

The investigation started in October after a female victim approached police, Peel Regional Police said in a press release on Tuesday.

The victim told police she was being sex trafficked in Peel and a man exercised control over aspects of her life while profiting financially from it, police said.

Police said another victim was identified during the investigation.

Wooldy Laguerre, 32, from Montreal, faces several charges including assault, two counts of trafficking persons, two counts of receiving benefit resulting from trafficking persons, two counts of communicate with anyone for the purpose of obtaining sexual services, two counts of material benefit from sexual services, two counts of exercise control, advertising sexual services, assault with a weapon and uttering death threats.

Laguerre was held for a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

Investigators in Specialized Enforcement Bureau Vice unit believe there may be additional victims, particularly in the Montreal or Greater Toronto Area, and encourage them to contact police at 905-453-2121, extension 3555.
