The forecast calls for sunny skies to start the week but more wet weather is on the way for Mississauga, Brampton and much of Ontario later this week.

Monday is expected to see a mix of sun and clouds with a foggy start to the morning in some areas, so drivers may want to take some extra time on their commutes.

The mercury is expected to hit a high of 30 C and a low of 19 C in Mississauga on Monday, but the skies could take a turn in the evening with a 30 per cent chance of showers with a risk of thunderstorms.

Tuesday could see even more storms with winds gusting up to 40 km/h in the afternoon and a high of 31 C. The wet weather is expected to last throughout most of the week with some sun again on Thursday.

The UV index on Monday will hit a high of 7, and Environment Canada advises taking precautions such as seeking shade, wearing protective clothing and hats, applying SPF 30 or higher sunscreen, avoiding tanning and using UV-protective sunglasses, especially between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
