Charges have been laid against a Mississauga woman in connection to a fatal collision that happened in Brampton back in May.

The incident took place around 12:15 a.m. on May 6, 2021. The victim was a passenger in a vehicle that had just exited a business near Winston Churchill Boulevard and Steeles Avenue West.

“Shortly after turning onto Winston Churchill, the driver pulled over so that the passenger could retrieve an item from the trunk,” said police. “As the victim attended to the vehicle’s trunk area, she was struck by another car travelling in the same direction.”

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Thursday, August 26, Peel police’s Major Collision Bureau charged a 56-year-old Mississauga woman with Careless Driving Causing Death.

She is expected to appear at the Ontario Provincial Offences Court in Brampton in October 2021.
