Mississauga will fly the Pride Progress flag at all City facilities, including fire stations during the month of June.

The flags will be put in place once they have been purchased.

The move comes as the City has officially recognized June as Pride month in Mississauga and has determined the Pride Progress flag will fly at City Hall throughout the month.

A motion proposed by Mayor Bonnie Crombie and approved by councillors today (June 8) affirms support for two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning additional sexual orientations and gender identities (2SLGBTQ+) residents and stands with them to protect their civil rights and their ability to live openly, equally and without fear.

The City also committed to recognizing that more work needs to be done to ensure that members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community no longer face discrimination, hate or violence because of who they are or who they love.
