Mississauga townhouse fire not suspicious, say investigators

The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office says the blaze that damaged 36 townhouse units in Mississauga on Sunday was not deliberately set, although the cause has yet to be determined.
The fire, which occurred at 2869 Battleford Rd. near Glen Erin Dr., has left several families homeless as investigators comb through the debris.
It is believed the fire started on a third floor balcony of one of the units and winds quickly spread the flames through the shared roof and attics.
As well, investigators are still trying to determine whether the property’s fire alarm system was working properly.
Several families are being helped by the Red Cross to find accommodation and to replace items destroyed by the fire. At least one GoFundMe campaign has started to assist a family.
