Toronto police, mississauga man arrested carjacking

A Mississauga man on a release order has been charged after a carjacking in Toronto, police say.

Toronto police said officers responded to the area of Martin Grove Road and Royal Crest Road, south of Steeles Avenue West in Etobicoke, at around 12:33 a.m. on Aug. 10 for a vehicle theft.

Police said a suspect approached the victim who was sitting in his vehicle and demanded his keys.

“The victim refused but was forcefully removed by the suspect,” police said.

“The suspect got in the vehicle and drove off.”

On Wednesday, Peel Regional Police officers reportedly found the stolen vehicle.

Toronto holdup officers went to the scene and saw the suspect walking back to the stolen vehicle, police said.

He was arrested “without incident,” officers added.

“During a search of the suspect, officers found keys to the vehicle as well as a knife,” police said.

Mississauga resident Emmanuel Reid, 23, has been charged with robbery with violence, possession of property obtained by crime, weapons dangerous, and failing to comply with a release order.

Police didn’t say what he was reportedly on a release order for.

Reid was set to appear in bail court on Thursday.
