Mississauga man found asleep in vehicle he is accused of stealing

An accused thief from Mississauga was literally asleep at the wheel last Saturday morning, says the Caledon OPP.
Police in Caledon say a man and and woman are facing charges of being in possession of two stolen vehicles, as well wo counts apiece of drug posssesion. They were found sleeping in one of the purloined vehicles on May 22, according to a statement from the community’s Ontario Provincial Police detachment.
Around 7:28 a.m. that morning, Caledon OPP officers were alerted of two suspicious vehicles parked at the walking trail between Mill Street and Mississauga Road. The initial investigation revealed that both vehicles had been reported stolen.
The responding officers found two individuals who were asleep in one of the vehicles. They were both arrested for being in possession of property obtained by crime. Cocaine and other illegal drugs were also found in the vehicles.
James Fobert, age 40, of Mississauga is charged with:
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 (two counts)
- Failure to comply with undertaking
- Breach of recognizance
- Failure to comply with probation order
- Possession of a Schedule I substance — Cocaine
- Possession of a Schedule I substance — Other drugs
Shelleen Bedward, 33, of no fixed address was charged with:
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 (two counts)
- Failure to comply with undertaking
- Possession of a Schedule I substance — Cocaine
- Possession of a Schedule I substance — Other drugs
Both accused are scheduled to appear in an Orangeville court in August to answer to the charges.
