It may have taken a while for Thomas Birch to finally believe he had won $250,000 playing his Daily Keno 8 Pick, but now that it has sunk in he has made quick plans for the cash.
The 61-year-old Mississauga retail worker, whose ticket won the March 12, 2021 Midday Draw, has a clear vision for his winnings.
While picking up his cheque recently at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto, Birch said he plans to share the money with his family and invest.
Oh, and one more thing.
“I will also buy myself a trailer to enjoy the peaceful beauty of our great outdoors,” he smiled.
Birch is a regular player of Daily Keno, saying he likes the odds.
He was in disbelief when he learned he had won the big prize.
“When I checked my ticket at the store and saw ‘Big Winner,’ I thought it was a misprint. I don’t get money like this. I have to work for every nickel. It was unbelievable,” he said, adding he was in denial about his win for a while. “I just kept thinking this can’t be happening to me. It’s hard to believe this little piece of paper is worth $250,000.”
The winning ticket was purchased at Dollarcade, on Fieldgate Dr. in Mississauga.
