Kids ages 12 to 14 in Mississauga have the chance to ride the buses and swim for free this summer in the city.
City of Mississauga officials say young people in that age range can apply for the newly-named Sauga Summer Pass (formerly the Freedom Pass) starting this coming Sunday (May 1).
The pass allows those ages 12 to 14 to ride MiWay buses and use all indoor and outdoor City swimming pools free of charge from July 1 to Aug. 31.
Applications for the pass will be accepted at community centres in Mississauga starting May 1. Numbers are limited, so the City will provide the passes on a first-come, first-served basis.
Application forms can be downloaded/printed or picked up at any community centre.
The forms must be submitted in person at a community centre and must be signed by parents/guardians. Also, those applying must show one piece of ID and have their photo taken for the pass.
The pass allows users to swim for free during designated drop-in recreational swimming times only, City officials say.
To get a free ride on MiWay buses, users must show their Sauga Summer Pass to the driver when they step on board. Bus transfers won’t be issued.
