A food bank in Mississauga is shifting some of its focus ahead of children returning to in-person schooling in September.
The Compass Food Bank, located at 310 Lakeshore Rd. W., is asking for donations of school supplies that it plans to distribute to families in need in south Mississauga. It is emphasizing donations of backpacks, lunchbags, reusable water bottles, notebooks and pencil cases, as well as pens, pencils, erasers and 24-packs of pencil crayons. The food bank is hoping to have all of the items it plans donate by Monday, Aug. 16.
Items such as calculators, math sets, binders and highlighters will also be distributed to intermediate and secondary school students.
Our Back to School program is back! All the supplies that are donated will contribute to a full backpack that will be given to a child. For further questions email [email protected] or [email protected] pic.twitter.com/M4nDhnolVr
