A driver in Mississauga lost their vehicle and was arrested after police saw a move from The Fast and Furious movie franchise.
The driver performed a “Tokyo Drift turn” in front of an unmarked police vehicle, according to a tweet from Peel Regional Police Road Safety Services.
The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift is a 2006 action film featuring street racing.
The incident happened in the Hwy. 401 and Mavis Road area on Wednesday (Aug. 31) evening, police said. After police stopped the driver, they learned the person also has five driving suspensions in 2022.
The driver was arrested, and the vehicle impounded “possibly for months,” police said.
“Repeat offenders receive special treatment,” police said.
Many believe the punishment isn’t harsh enough.
“What does it take to have their licence revoked permanently,” one person said on Twitter. “Looks like he was given 4 too many chances.”
