Environment Canada, the federal weather agency, says heavy rains are likely to drench Mississauga, Brampton and Halton Region on Friday.
Showers and thunderstorms are forecast to move across the area late Friday into Friday night. Rain will be heavy at times, with an expected accumulation of between 20 to 40 millimetres. Isolated amounts of up to 50 mm of precipitation are possible.
Burlington, Caledon, Halton Hills, Milton and Oakville are also included in the warning. The storm system is expected to move across Southern Ontario.
There is potential for localized flooding and rising waters along creeks and rivers when a lot of rain falls in a short period. Consulting a conservation authority or Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry District office is recommended for information on flooding, and updates are available at Ontario.ca/floods.
Severe weather can also be reported to Environment Canada through Twitter by using the hashtag #ONStorm.
