The City of Brampton is advocating on a number of key priorities as part of the Federal government’s 2020 pre-budget consultations.

Mayor Patrick Brown travelled to Ottawa for the Big City Mayors Conference today.

“Mayors across Canada are united and we look forward to working with federal government on building better lives for Canadians,” said Mayor Patrick Brown on Twitter, adding that he had plans to meet with Justin Trudeau, Chrystia Freeland, Catherine McKenna, Ahmed Hussen and Bill Morneau.

Brown then proceeds to say that he had a productive meeting with Trudeau.

“Had a productive discussion with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the Big City Mayors Conference. Took the opportunity to stress the need for federal partnerships with Brampton on our riverwalk project and our enhanced transit goals,” said Mayor Patrick Brown on Twitter.

The City of Brampton recently made its Pre-Budget Submission 2020 available for viewing online.

The submission begins with a statement from Brown about “unlocking Brampton’s potential.”

“Here in Brampton, we are eager to develop talent, create jobs and build a community that is connected, sustainable and innovative,” reads the Pre-Budget Submission 2020.

The Pre-Budget Submission 2020 identifies key priorities which include transit, the Hurontario-Main Street LRT, Queen Street-Highway 7 BRT, climate change and flood mitigation and the importance of building safer communities.
