Massive power outage impacting over 8,500 homes and businesses in Brampton

There is a massive power outage affecting thousands of Brampton residents today (July. 21)
Around 4 p.m., the utilities company Alectra reported that approximately 8,530 homes and businesses were experiencing a power outage.
The outage is impacting the areas along Bramalea Road to Chingacousy Road and Highway 410 to Williams Parkway.
Some of the areas in Brampton currently without power are highlighted by a map provided by Alectra. These include:
- Queen Street East
- Bovaird Drive West
- Main Street South
- Mississauga Road
- Letty Ave
- Elgin Drive
- Brenda Ave
- McLaughlin Road
- Havelock Drive
- Lexington Road
- Pannahill Drive
- Dixie Road
- Britannia Road East
- Luke Road
Authorities have not mentioned the cause of this outage.
The utilities company reported that crew have been dispatched to fix the issue and power is estimated to be fully restored between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. tonight.
