A massive art piece by a renowned artist is coming to a Mississauga park.

French artist Saype will paint a custom land art piece in Community Common Park from Sept. 25 to Oct. 4, a press release from the City of Mississauga says.

Saype uses biodegradable paint to create huge land art paintings on the ground. He has painted frescos in cities around the world including New York, Paris, Venice, Geneva, Cape Town, Turin, Dubai, Nairobi, Istanbul, Ouagadougou, Miami and Tokyo.

“Saype’s land art creations are massive in scale – he will be using a three-acre space at Community Common Park to create his land art fresco in Mississauga,” the press release states.

Among his most notable works is the series Beyond Walls. This project stemmed from the assumption that the world is polarized and a portion of the population chooses to withdraw, Saype’s website states.

“I am deeply convinced that it is together that humanity will be able to face the various challenges it must overcome,” Saype says on his website.

Saype’s aligned goals and majestic artwork prompted Visit Mississauga to invite and commission Saype to create a piece in Mississauga, the city says in the release.

As the official destination marketing organization for the city, Visit Mississauga works with partners to bring events and attractions that align with Mississauga’s values of celebrating diversity and fostering mutual understanding.

“Through his art, Saype aims to break down borders and barriers and evoke a sense of mutual support and hope among mankind and across the globe,” the release states.

His work in Mississauga will be his first in English-speaking Canada.

The biodegradable fresco paint will fade away, so visitors will have a limited time to witness this once-in-a-lifetime art installation in the heart of Mississauga.

Saype will paint from Sept. 25 to Oct. 1, and the completed piece can be seen from Oct. 1 to 4.

Community Common Park is in the City Centre at 355 Princess Royal Dr.
