Masks are now optional for patients and visitors at Trillium Health Partners-run hospitals in Mississauga and Etobicoke.

Today (July 5), Trillium Health Partners (THP), which operates both the Mississauga Hospital and Credit Valley Hospital, announced that it will be moving to a “mask-friendly approach.”

In a tweet, the health organization said it’s aligning its policies to match those of other health care facilities across the province.

In a statement, THP said masking is still encouraged and recommended

“THP supports a mask-friendly environment and masks will continue to be available at all hospital entrances. We understand masking is a personal choice, and we encourage you to continue masking if it makes you feel most comfortable,” the statement reads.

THP asks patients and visitors to monitor for respiratory symptoms and consider masking if they’re unwell.

“If you are experiencing respiratory symptoms and can tolerate wearing a mask, please do so. Everyone is encouraged to wear a mask while in busy waiting rooms and emergency departments.”

THP says its mask policy is subject to change based on respiratory virus circulation.
