Although the Ontario government is lifting mask mandates from most public places in the province, Trillium Health Partners (THP) say the rules will remain in place for the time being.

This means at locations such as Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga Hospital and other healthcare facilities overseen by THP, visitors and staff will still have to wear their masks to control the spread of COVID-19.

“To deliver the highest-quality care and protect patients, their families and our staff, masks will continue to be required for visitors to Trillium Health Partners (THP) as well as our own staff'” reads a released statement. “As we continue to care for vulnerable patient populations, keeping our masking policy in place is a vital part of our ongoing pandemic response.

THP also asks visitors to continue to wash and sanitize their hands often and maintain physical distancing when possible.

The hospitals also urge visitors to continue to self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms and avoid all healthcare facilities if they are feeling unwell, have been exposed to COVID-19 or have tested positive in the last 10 days.

“We will continue to monitor this evolving situation and provide updates, when required,” the statement reads.

Under new Ontario guidelines, masks will no longer have to be worn on public transit and at events where large crowds gather. However, masks must still be worn in retirement homes and long-term care settings.
