Man with ‘lifetime weapons ban’ among two people charged after loaded gun found in Mississauga

Two people have been charged with firearm-related offences after a loaded revolver was seized during a traffic stop yesterday.

Peel Regional Police reported that Airport Division officers stopped a vehicle near Derry Road East and Torbram Road— minutes away from Pearson Airport in Mississauga.

Subsequently, both occupants were arrested by police after a loaded .38-calibre revolver was discovered in the vehicle.

Kendall Saunders, 24, of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, who was out on parole under a lifetime weapons prohibition, faces several firearm charges. These include unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a loaded prohibited firearm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Malai Atkinson, 24, of Richmond Hill, faces similar charges including unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Both suspects were held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
