Man with a knife boards public transit bus in Mississauga

A 25-year-old man has been charged by police after a passenger armed with a knife boarded a MiWay transit bus near Mississauga’s downtown core on Sunday morning.
Peel Regional Police say officers who responded to the weapons call at about 9 a.m. on Oct. 8 located the bus at Hurontario Street and Central Parkway.
Police say they quickly and safely evacuated all passengers from the bus before arresting a man and seizing a knife.
No injuries were reported, police added.
Owen Owl-Hardisty, 25, of no fixed address, is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and fail to comply with a release order.
He was released with conditions and will appear in Brampton court on a date yet to be determined.
“The safety of our community members is our highest priority. Thankfully, in this situation, no one was hurt,” police said in a news release.
