Man shot in Mississauga parking lot amidst gathering of friends

A man remains hospitalized while the suspect is on the loose, after an overnight shooting on Saturday at a parking lot in Port Credit.

On Saturday (Sept. 30) shortly after 2 a.m., police say a shooting took place at a parking lot near a convenience store at the intersection of Helene Street and Lakeshore Road East.

A Peel Police officer confirmed with insauga.com that a group of seven friends were out together when multiple shots were fired resulting in a 37-year-old man sustaining a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to a trauma centre for medical attention with non-life-threatening injuries, officers say.

Police have not disclosed if it was a targeted incident.

According to investigators, any other details surrounding the circumstances leading to the shooting are unknown at this time.

“No arrests or charges have been made and one suspect in their late 20s and early 30s is still at large,” an officer told insauga.com.

Currently a photo or description of the suspect is unavailable.
