A 29-year-old man is facing sex assault and other charges following an alleged incident involving a young person in Mississauga last month.
Peel Regional Police say the incident happened on Dec. 9 when a girl under the age of 18 was approached by a man in the Square One area.
The suspect reportedly made inappropriate advances, including kissing and touching the victim. However, the victim was able to leave the situation unharmed, investigators say.
On Dec. 16—a week after the incident, police arrested a man in connection with the incident.
Johnathan Watson, also known as Justine Watson— of no fixed address—faces charges of sexual assault and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
Watson was taken into custody and awaits a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
Police say at the time of his arrest, Watson was under release conditions stemming from previous sexual assault charges. Officers have not provided details about those charges or any information regarding the previous case.
Investigators believe there may be additional victims and are urging anyone with relevant information to contact police.
