WANTED: Man considered ‘armed and dangerous’ hunted Canada-wide in Brampton attempted murder

A man considered by police to be “armed and dangerous” is being sought on a Canada-wide warrant in connection with an attempted murder last year in Brampton.
Peel Regional Police said in a news release this afternoon that Nakeem Jamar Johnson, 33, is wanted for his alleged role in a targeted shooting that took place on Feb. 3, 2022 in the area of Queen Street East and Rutherford Road.
The victim, an adult male, was shot multiple times, but survived, according to investigators.
Johnson is also wanted on a charge of conspiracy to commit murder in addition to numerous alleged firearm and drug trafficking offences.
In asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect, police caution anyone who spots the man to not approach him. Rather, they’re urged to call 911 immediately.
Police say six people have already been arrested in the targeted shooting investigation, dubbed Project Journey.

Additionally, according to investigators, search warrants have been executed in multiple jurisdictions across the GTA leading to the recovery by police of five guns, 10 kilos of methamphetamine and significant amounts of fentanyl and cocaine.
Johnson faces the following charges:
- attempt murder
- conspiracy to commit murder
- possession of a firearm
- possession for the purpose of trafficking (two counts)
- knowledge of unauthorized possession (four counts)
- possession of a loaded prohibited firearm (four counts)
- possession of a prohibited device (44 counts)
The wanted man is further described as Black, standing 5-foot-6, weighing 160 pounds, with short black hair, a black beard and brown eyes.
