Arrest in Brampton hit-and-run.

Members of the community are being credited with helping lead police to an arrest in a hit-and-run in early July in which a teenage boy was seriously injured as he changed a tire at the side of a Brampton road.

Peel Regional Police said in a news release on Saturday they arrested a 21-year-old Brampton man last Monday in connection with the July 5 fail-to-remain incident.

According to investigators, the 17-year-old victim was trying to change a tire on the shoulder of the road in the area of Countryside Road and Fernforest Drive at about 10 p.m.

Police said that as he was doing so, he was struck by a passing vehicle, which then fled the scene. The teen suffered serious, but not life-threatening injuries due to the collision and was transported to hospital.

A 21-year-old man from Brampton is charged with failure to stop after an accident resulting in bodily harm. He’ll appear in court at a future date.

Police said they thank members of the community for their help in leading investigators to an arrest.
