Man charged after homeowner hit with bear spray in Brampton home invasion

A 25-year-old man has been charged Thursday (July 4) in connection with a home invasion robbery in Brampton that happened early last month.

The incident occurred in the early hours of June 7, 2024, when three people went to a home near Mayfield Road and Dixie Road and forced their way in while the residents of the home were inside.

Wearing disguises to conceal their identities, the three sprayed a person residing in the home with ‘bear spray’ and then fled the home to a stolen vehicle outside.

A following investigation by Peel Regional Police led to a search warrant on the suspect’s residence were police allege they found property related to the Brampton home invasion.

Manpreet Sekhon, 25, from Brampton has been charged with:

  • Robbery
  • Wear disguise with intent
  • Administer noxious substance
  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Two counts of flight from police

Sekhon was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

The investigation continues and police say further charges could be laid.
