Police have one man in custody in connection to a violent crash in a Brampton residential neighborhood.
Two vehicles collided at the intersection Mountainash Rd. and Countryside Dr. shortly before 10:30 p.m on May 16. The crash was captured on a nearby home security camera. It shows a white car attempt to turn right from Countryside onto Mountainash.
However, before it can complete the turn, a dark Audi sedan sped into view and crashed into the side of the white sedan. On impact, the cars seemingly explode into twisted steel shrapnel. The video obtained by Kyle Taylor soon went viral while Peel Regional Police remained tight-lipped about the crash.
Investigators later confirmed some sparse details about the collision noting that two women were sent to a trauma centre with serious, though not life-threatening, injuries.
On May 18, police announced an arrest in the case. They allege Brampton man Baldeep Sandhar, age 21, was behind the wheel of the Audi. He’s charged with five offences including two counts of dangerous driving causing harm, driving while suspended, driving without insurance, and racing.
“Investigators are reviewing evidence, including multiple video angles, and investigating the possibility that another vehicle may be involved,” Police said, “They are asking anyone who may have been in the area and witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage to contact the Major Collision Bureau at 905-453-3311” or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
