Man, 80, dies in hospital after Brampton house fire

A man has succumbed to his injuries following a house fire in Brampton on Sunday.

The fire broke out at home on Pennyroyal Crescent, near Bovaird Drive East and Sunnyvale Gate, on Sunday (July 2) around 2 p.m.

An 80-year-old man was found without vital signs at the home but was resuscitated and sent to hospital in critical condition, police said.

Unfortunately, man later died in hospital, Peel Regional Police told insauga.com on Monday.

The fire reportedly broke out in the basement of the home.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation and police have not determined if it is suspicious or not. The Ontario Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate.

This was the third consecutive fire Brampton Fire and Emergency Services has responded to over the long weekend.

A two-alarm fire broke out at a home in the area of Treeline Boulevard and Airport Road in the morning of June 30.

And crews battled another two-alarm fire very early on July 1 at a home Barmoral Drive and Bramalea Road.

There were no reports of injuries in those two fires.
