Man, 18, charged with sex assault after victim targeted while walking on Mississauga trail

An 18-year-old Mississauga man has been charged with sexual assault in connection with an attack police believe took place last Friday afternoon on a walking trail in the city’s east end.

Peel Regional Police investigators said in a news release issued Monday that a “female victim” was approached by a man from behind while walking along the Applewood Trail shortly before 3:30 p.m.

According to police, the man sexually assaulted the victim and then fled the scene on foot. She was not physically injured, police added.

Police didn’t reveal the age of the victim.

Andrew Pires, 18, of Mississauga, is charged with sexual assault.

Police believe there might be more victims.
